On Sunday 19 June, tens of thousands of people will fill the streets to celebrate our fantastic city as Manchester Day returns. We are looking for enthusiastic people to play a key role in helping us bring the streets to life with an incredible spectacle of music, colour and performance.
We are looking for volunteers to get involved in the lead up to the event.
Creative Volunteers – opportunities throughout May & June
This year we will be running a series of 3 Mobile WoW workshops in neighbourhoods around the city as well as running a central workshop in the city centre. Dates for these are to be confirmed but will be from 21 May – 5 June.
The WoW workshop (located in the city centre) is the creative community hub designed especially for Manchester Day, where artists and participants work on their creations, costumes and movement. WoW Weekends are held at the workshop over 2 weekends leading up to the event and serve as a chance to make preparations for the big day in a lively creative and collaborative atmosphere.
We need people to help and build structures, make props and embellish costumes. It’s a great opportunity to work with established carnival artists and get an in-depth look behind the scenes of one of the city's biggest events of the summer. You can volunteer as little or as much time as you like, from a few hours to a few weeks. Just tell us your availability and we’ll let you know how and when you can help out.
If you’re particularly interested in helping out with WoW Weekends, the dates are:
If you’re interested in helping out at a Mobile Wow, let us know and we will send you details.
Please note, if you sign up as a Creative Volunteer (in the lead up) you can also sign up as a Wayfinding Volunteer or a Participant Support Volunteer (on the day roles – see separate listing)!
We can reimburse travel expenses.
