Factory International

About Us

MIF launched in 2007 as an artist-led festival presenting new works from across the spectrum of performing arts, visual arts and popular culture. We’ve commissioned, produced and presented world premieres by artists as diverse as Björk, Steve McQueen, Robert Wilson, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Jeremy Deller, Wayne McGregor, Maxine Peake, Boris Charmatz, The xx, Zaha Hadid Architects, Thomas Ostermeier, Damon Albarn, Punchdrunk, Elbow and Marina Abramović, among many others.

Manchester International Festival brings together artists from different art forms and backgrounds to create dynamic, innovative and forward-thinking new work, which we stage in a rich tapestry of venues across Greater Manchester – from theatres, galleries and concert halls to railway depots, churches and car parks.

Volunteering at Factory International / Manchester International Festival

We are Factory International

We have been busy preparing for a very exciting year, with both MIF23 taking place and Factory international opening it’s doors in summer 2023.

Factory International will host a year-round programme of the world’s best dance, theatre, music, visual arts, performance, installation and digital commissions. Manchester International Festival will continue to take over the city every two years, using the venue as its base.

What you can get involved in

We’re recruiting volunteers to get involved in the 18 extraordinary days of MIF, but you can also continue volunteering with us across a summer of events at Factory International.
